Invasion of the Eiffel Tower: Invader's Trial and Success
Read More
Invader’s mosaics are scattered worldwide, with over 4000 mosaics placed. Paris, the French artist's hometown, is undeniably the city with the most mosaics, with over 1500 mosaics. Many tourist attractions or monuments have been invaded, including the Olympic-referenced mosaics along the Seine River, or maybe the largest mosaic in Place d'Italie. Of course, Paris being Invader’s playground for his mosaics, he could not resist invading Paris’ most iconic landmark. Introducing, the Invasion of the Eiffel Tower.
The First Attempt
Many may be unaware of the fact that the one mosaic that could be seen on the top of the Eiffel Tower wasn’t Invader’s first try in placing one of his works here.
In November 1999, Invader placed his 234th mosaic in Paris on one of the pillars of the Eiffel Tower, depicting a vermillion-colored Invader on a rectangular background of a random pattern of sky and cobalt blue. It was later removed and was never replaced.

The Success
20 years later, the 1,431st mosaic artwork was placed in Paris. This mosaic is worth 100 points and is situated on the top level of the Eiffel Tower. Located on the outdoor platform, it’s open to the public for you and me to access. However, it requires a pre-purchase or a ticket on the day of your visit as it is inside the Eiffel Tower.
The mosaic depicts a bright blue Invader in front of some clouds, symbolizing the sheer height of the mosaic, which is over 300 meters from the ground up.
