What is FlashInvaders?

Over the past two decades, Invader has developed a large-scale project, the Global Space Invasion, where Invader invades cities by installing his mosaics in cities worldwide. This is where FlashInvaders comes in, the official application by the renowned street artist that makes discovering street art a treasure hunt. In this post, we will dive into FlashInvaders and how to use the application correctly.

What is it?

The unique FlashInvaders app created by Invader turns his global invasion into a hunt for his mosaic art. By combining physical art into the digital world, Invader encourages engagement and interactions among gamers, introverts, and art lovers.

With the worldwide availability of Invader’s work by the Global Invasion Project, an app tracing all the installations is a must. It is now much easier with digital technology to locate every single art piece of Invaders with pictures, date of birth, and address. Every single invader is given a code. The format would be as follows, Location_No. With the app in place, every Invader you see passing by the streets can be identified and captured on the app.

You would get a score within the range of 10 to 100 for every new piece scanned. Every city has its own score which is the sum of all the Space Invaders created on its walls. What score would you get?

How It Works

Find an Invader

Locate Invader's mosaics in cities around the world.

Capture

Aim, zoom, and flash it! Take a photo of the mosaic through the app. FlashInvaders uses geolocation to verify the authenticity so only flashes of the actual street mosaics will be validated. Do not cheat from your couch!

Score

If the flash is validated, the Invader is added to your gallery. Each verified capture earns you points, which contributes to your global rank on the leaderboard.

Tips for Successful hunting

Stay Updated

Follow Invader’s official social media on Instagram Invaderwashere or Facebook Invader for hints about new installations. He often posts his recent installations or mosaics that have recently been created. He was quite an active user before the middle of June but he has since spoken less on his social media in recent weeks.

Explore Thoroughly

Invader’s mosaics can be found in both popular and obscure locations. Keep your eyes peeled! Look around you instead of looking down at your phone constantly, as these crafty art pieces may merge into their surroundings. If you do not pay attention, you will have no chance of capturing one. If you’re not sure whether any invaders are located in your city, visit World Invasion.

Easy ValidatioN

Make sure the photo you captured is easily recognized.

If it is not approved, there are a few reasons behind it. Refer to the sketch, and try to avoid light reflections, shadows, and objects over the mosaic. Keep your camera upright to have a higher chance of success.

Another reason is inaccurate GPS location. Check your position and turn off things that will disable your GPS so the app can track your actual location.

Also, if a mosaic is damaged, it may not be recognized.

If you’ve done everything above and yet it doesn’t approve, the mosaic may not be an original.

Map Usage

If you’re living in Paris, you are in luck.

Invader published his official Invasion Map of Paris in January 2024. It is the 28th Invasion Map to be published.

This third version of the map of the Invasion of Paris features the 1500 mosaics Invader installed in the French capital city from 1998 to 2024. It features all the cities like Paris, Marseille, Rennes, and so on.

There are also unofficial maps and applications that give you all the locations of the invaders lying around the world. It somewhat ruins the fun but it’s up to you to decide whether you would like to rely on it or not.

Rules and Warnings

Respect

While hunting, respect private property and local regulations. If they are inaccessible in a way, do not stubbornly violate the law. Respect the culture of others. Urban art should be enjoyed responsibly. There is no point in damaging or destroying them for the sake of seeking attention and fame. Take a photo and go.

Danger

Do not put your life at risk if an Invader is located somewhere dangerous. A flash is not worth your life.

Account

Use one account for one player on one device.
